How Emails Are Verified

Every address that reaches a member has survived a gauntlet run across multiple independent data providers:

Syntax, domain, and mail-server checks. The address is well formed, the domain is real and active, and mail servers actually exist for it.
Mailbox testing. The specific address is tested for deliverability, not just the domain.
Three engines must agree. Three separate verification services with complementary technologies check every address. One disagreement removes it from your results.
Catch-all resolution. Some company domains accept mail for any address, which most tools mark risky and hand to you anyway. Our pipeline resolves the mailbox itself, using activity signals across hundreds of services, and can verify a large share of catch-all addresses that are normally impossible to check.

The result: valid emails from this pipeline bounce at under 2%, and roughly a third of the raw addresses collected upstream are rejected before anyone ever sees them.

How Phone Numbers Are Verified

Phone data fails differently: numbers go dead, landlines masquerade as mobiles, and directories drift out of date. The pipeline screens for each failure separately:

Mobile or landline, told apart in more than 40 countries. A landline is flagged and filtered, not sold to you as a mobile.
Out-of-service detection. Numbers that no longer ring are removed whenever they can be detected.
Name matching in the US and Canada. Telecom records identify the owner of the line, and that name is cross-checked against your contact's name. Only a name-matched number is flagged as verified in the product.
Honesty about the rest. A number without the verified flag is not necessarily wrong; it means the owner's name could not be found to check. We show you the difference instead of hiding it.
